Plans are well underway for the running of the 2-day 2008 Cup Carnival in November. Monday 3rd November is LADIES' DAY when all ladies receive FREE entry and a complimentary glass of champagne. On Tuesday 4th November, Skellatar Park is the picturesque venue for the MT ARTHUR COAL MUSWELLBROOK GOLD CUP, also featuring the Skellatar Sprint – an exciting 8-Race Twilight Program- two fabulous days of racing action at one of Australia’s premier track.
B IG PRIZE MONEY - BIG COUNTRY CUP:
With racing programs yet to be finalised , it is anticipated that the Muswellbrook Gold Cup will retain its format as a 1750m Open Handicap with $40,000 in prizemoney, (plus $2500 in trophies) supported by the time honoured Skellatar Sprint over 1000m of $16,000, and 6 other races each of $9,000 – totaling $112,500 in prizemoney and trophies for the day.
HALF-DAY HOLIDAY FOR LUCKY LOCALS:
An added bonus to the event is that Muswellbrook Shire enjoys an official half-day public holiday (Tuesday 4th November 2008),
encouraging plenty of local support in the crowd with the Club aiming at a minimum turnout of around 5000 patrons.
The race Club is organising a Marquee for VIPs, Sponsors and Party Groups with an all-inclusive package. Other corporate groups wishing to do their own separate entertaining on the day, are most welcome and our Club is more than happy to assist in orgainsing special services at Skellatar Park.

Muswellbrook Visitor Centre (phone 6541 4050) has a free information package which can be mailed to potential tourists wishing to come for the weekend and be involved with the festivities. Early bookings are advisable.
